THE PLASTIC DIMENSIONof italian painting
A cura di Andrea B. Del Guercio
Throughout the history of Italian art, an expressive trajectory runs marked by the intersection of painting and sculpture, where the two distinct linguistic systems influence each other in the development of an autonomous visual culture. The dominant presence of a significant artisanal culture, its interdisciplinary nature with its numerous technical variables, has represented an important source of reference for artists and an attraction for patrons, giving rise to a specific heritage.
Within this heritage, expressive contributions emerge from a complex set of technical and linguistic skills that are little-known or elude immediate attribution. Thus, the dimension of artistic experience in its articulation is revealed as complex and constantly evolving, becoming functional to new applications and subsequent attributions of aesthetic function and iconographic value.
