Herbert Melher
A monumental heritage

The extensive photographic documentation that we are publishing in this edition shows Herbert’s achievement of a significant expressive solidity, if compared to that season of discoveries and research, and the setting up of a monumental heritage, now vast and distributed in public sites and museums of Germany. His “sculptural-environmental” development, articulated in projects and forms, volumes and dimensions, horizontality and verticality, confronted with public spaces, in between architecture and urban planning, has brought him to be considered one of the most important European sculptures of the generation born in the ‘50’s.
